Whitney Zachariason, a 6-2 forward from Little Rock, Ark., transferred to Baylor from the University of Arkansas and began classes on Monday, Jan. 14.

Zachariason, a 2007 Central Arkansas Christian graduate, had a successful high school basketball career during which she scored 2,922 points, hauled down 1,206 rebounds and led her team to a 142-12 record. She led the Mustangs to three state championships and was named MVP of all three state tournaments.

En route to earning Arkansas' Gatorade Girls' Basketball Player of the Year honors as a senior, Zachariason averaged 28.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. She was named Ms. Basketball Arkansas in 2006 and `07 and earned first-team all-state honors as a sophomore, junior and senior.

Zachariason left the Arkansas squad in early November after playing in two September exhibition games in Canada.

Zachariason will be able to practice with the team but will not be allowed to play in games or travel.
