2007 Baylor Volleyball Accomplishments

 

Team

-Ranked as high as #36 in the nation.

-Improved season dig total (1,945) for the third-straight season (1,906 in 2006).

-Improved stats in three per-game categories for the third-straight season:

            -15.07 kills per game (14.93 kpg in 2006)

            -14.02 assists per game (13.76 apg in 2006)

            -16.48 digs per game (15.62 dpg in 2006)


 

 

-Tied for the most Big 12 victories since 2001 (2005, 2006)

-3-0 sweep at Texas Tech

            -Second sweep in Big 12 since 2002 (Kansas 2006)

            -First road sweep in Big 12 play since 2001 (at Oklahoma)

-Consecutive 3-0 wins at TCU and at Texas Tech

-First time to earn consecutive sweeps involving one Big 12 opponent since 2001 (Texas State and Iowa State)

-First time to sweep consecutive opponents on the road since 1993 (at UT-San Antonio, at Rice)

-School-record 23.0 total blocks at Colorado (rally scoring era)

-Recorded 98 digs vs. Kansas State (second-most in Baylor history in rally scoring era)

-Tallied 93 digs at Oklahoma (sixth-most in Baylor history in rally scoring era)

-Recorded a .667 hitting percentage (19-1-27) in game one against Kansas (ties the Baylor record for single game hitting efficiency)

-Hit .514 (20-2-35) in game four against Kansas (11th-best single-game hitting percentage in Baylor history)

Taylor Barnes

            -Led the Big 12 with 48 service aces; sixth-best single-season total

            -Ranks fourth with 2,756 career assists

            -Ranks second with 11.63 assist per game

            -1.403 assists in 2007, ranks fourth in Baylor history

-Seven service aces vs. Sam Houston State, six aces vs. Texas State (rank as the second- and fourth-most aces in Baylor history for a four-game match)

 

Anna Breyfogle

-Led the Big 12 and ranked 16th nationally with 1.54 blocks per game; fourth-best single-season total in Baylor history

-Named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week on three occasions (the only time a Baylor player has received multiple player of the week honors in the same

season, only Elisha Polk [three selections from 1997-99] has as many player of the week honors.)

-Career hitting percentage of .318 ranks second all-time at Baylor University

-327 career blocks ranks 10th in Baylor history.

-Career blocks per game total of 1.43 bpg ranks second all-time at Baylor

-175 blocks in 2007 is the third-best single season total

-13 total blocks at Colorado is the second-most in a single match, 12 blocks vs. Mississippi State ranks tied for fourth for a single match in Baylor history.

 

Ashlie Christenson

            -Named to the 2007 Big 12 All-Freshman team

-Recorded a hitting percentage of .625 (16-1-24) against Texas Tech; the highest single-match hitting percentage in Big 12 play by an outside hitter.

 

Sarah Grace

            -Named to the 2007 Big 12 All-Freshman team

            -Recorded 33 digs against Kansas State (fourth-most in Baylor history)

            -Set a Baylor record with 25 digs against Iowa State

            -477 digs in 2007, ranks as fourth-best single-season total in program history.

            -Recorded 4.30 digs per game, the second-best total in BU history.

 

Amanda Modglin

-Recorded a hitting percentage of .565 (13-0-23) against Colorado, the fourth-best percentage in a five-game match in Baylor history.

 

Katie Sanders

-Tallied 478 kills in 2007, the ninth-best single-season total in Baylor history (fourth-best in rally scoring era).

-Has recorded 3.36 kills per game in her career, the fourth-best average in Baylor history.

-Tallied 25 kills and 21 digs vs. Kansas State, her first 20 kill-20 dig match and the 21st ever in Baylor history. Followed that by recording 22 kills and 28 digs at Oklahoma, her second straight 20 kill-20 dig match and the 22nd ever in Baylor history.

-There have only been six 20 kill-20 dig matches in the rally scoring era (2001-present) and Sanders is responsible for two of them.

-Only one other time in Baylor history has a player recorded 20 kill-20 dig matches in consecutive matches (Elisha Polk vs. Kansas State [11/27/99] and vs. Temple [12/3/99])

 

Kristen Schramek

            -Tallied 1,523 career digs, the second most in Baylor history

            -Her average of 3.33 digs per game is the best ever at Baylor University

 

Haley Thomas

            -Recorded nine blocks in a 3-0 sweep at Texas Tech (the third-best total in a three-game match)

            -Tallied 1.15 blocks per game in Big 12 play, the highest bpg average by a non-middle blocks
