Baylor's Christian Atmosphere
Baylor is affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas, a cooperative association of autonomous Texas Baptist churches. All members of the University's Board of Regents are Baptist. Baylor is concerned with the spiritual, moral and intellectual development of those who come within its sphere of influence. It is committed to a caring relationship among its students, staff and faculty - a caring that is characterized by understanding, forgiveness and respect for individuality. The University is proud of its Christian heritage and strives to be an institution stimulated both by the power of God and the search for truth. A number of organizations at Baylor help the University carry out its Christian mission, including the offices of the Dean of Chapel/University Ministries and Church Relations; the centers for Christian Ethics and Ministry Effectiveness; the institutes of Church-State Studies and Faith and Learning; Baylor You youth camps; and numerous student ministry groups representing a variety of faiths. In addition, all Baylor students participate in two semesters of Chapel, a twice-weekly University gathering which features lectures and performances from a distinguished group of speakers and artists. |
